My sincere sympathy to Elsie's family. Over the years, Elsie was a kind, compassionate, dedicated friend who enriched my life and the lives of so many others. She lived her faith and blessed the world with fellowship, caring, and thoughtfulness. She will be missed by many but will live in our hearts forever.

Mary,Helen and Nancy: Sending many loving prayers to you . Elsie, I will always remember you as being loving and caring. You would send me birthday cards and newspaper clippings about Syracuse long after I moved away from Syracuse. I will miss hearing from you and seeing your beautiful smile.

Dear Mary Margaret,Helen and Nancy.
You were so fortunate to have Aunt Elsie as your Mother. But I was truly the lucky one because I had the best Godmother anyone could either need or want for 59 years. I will always cherish the memories of my childhood with her and never forget them. Love Peggy and her kids.

It was a shock to hear that Mrs. Schwickrath had died; it seems only days ago that my father told me of her latest gathering of "the old gang" from St. John and St. Peter Lutheran Church. She was one of the most memorable parishioners of that church as I grew up. I particularly remember her generosity of both time and treasure. The last time I saw her was more than twenty-five years ago; she and the Soderbergs visited me and my first husband during their trip to Gettysburg Seminary. She was a special person, and I'm sure that she'll be sorely missed. My condolences for your loss, Mary, Helen, and Nancy.

Elsie was such a darling- she was a good friend of my late mother-in-law, Gert Leeson...I will always remember Elsie's big smile (she was always wearing one!), she was one of those rare people who always made you feel welcome.

I came to Upstate Medical in 2003, and there was Elsie, always helpful, assisting with the office and being supportive with her pleasant presence and cheery smile. She was supportive to me when my sister unexpectedly died, would write encouraging notes and send clippings to my mother in Baltimore, and always had a special grace and dignity about her that I cherished. May she be a peace and be reunited with those she loved.

Great-aunt Elsie was an amazing lady. She was smart, funny, kind, and an absolute joy to be around. She gave me a rundown of Syracuse's political history only a few days before her passing. I will miss my pen pal & am so sorry for your loss.
