Charles J. Whitehead, Sr., 95, of Camillus, died on Monday at Emeritus at Bellevue Manor. He was a veteran of the Army during WWII, and served in the European Theatre and in the Battle of the Bulge. He had retired after 34 years of service in 1976 as manager of distributions for the US Post Office. He was a member of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees, VFW Post #5284 and Veterans of the Battle of the Bulge. Mr. Whitehead is pre-deceased by his wife Eleanor Ryan Whitehead (1972), his son Charles Jr. (2001), and his brothers: Robert, Norman, James Whitehead. The family wishes to thank the staff at Emeritus at Bellevue Manor for their care and support. He is survived by his brother Arthur of Syracuse; sister-in-law Mary Whitehead of Liverpool; caregiver Robert Whitehead of Marcellus and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 9am at the Frasier-Shepardson Funeral Home with burial in Woodlawn Cemetery. Calling hours are Friday from 4-7pm at the funeral home, 1217 N. Salina Street. Contributions may be made to Immanuel United Methodist Church, 303 Kasson Road, Camillus 13031.
