We offer our condolences to Dennis’ family. He was a good friend with whom we shared many fond memories. Jogging from the Y then coming back and playing basketball during the week and then Saturday morning runs at the Lake. Graciously opening his camp to all of us including our dogs, and our annual pizza parties. What a kind soul. We’ll always remember him in our hearts.

Dave,
So very sorry for the loss of your twin brother, Dennis. I never met Dennis but back in our days of working in the County you always had something nice to say about him. From reading family and friend's condolences, I can see how truly he was a great person, wonderful Dad, and special husband. What a blessing to everyone! I come from a large family - 8 of us - and a few months ago we lost our youngest sister to a brain tumor. Something I never imagined would happen to us in our younger years. My heart breaks for you and your family knowing the sorrow and grief you are having from your loss. My deepest condolences to you, your brother Winifred, and Kathleen and family.
In my prayers,
Linda Zaepfel

Many people knew Dennis via the Y and I am one of them.
He is a big loss to all that knew him. My condolences to the Rood family.
I go back decades ( 3 - 4 ) with Dennis and I am proud to say I was a friend of Dennis.
Our early days go back to having a pizza at the Corner House when one booth would be big
enough for our group ( 4 -5 ). .
I know that I will be thinking of him every time I pass the Corner House old location.
Forever a friend..

I am very sorry to hear of the passing of Dennis. For over 25 years I have had the pleasure of knowing Dennis and Dave and will keep the great memories alive seeing him at either the Fayetteville Y or downtown and always looked forward to his pleasant outlook even through sickness. The Roods have made their mark with everyone that has had the pleasure of calling them friends.
I will miss Dennis and my heartfelt condolences and prayers are with his family at this difficult time. Stay strong for Dennis and keep the great memories alive. He was a true gentleman and I am a better person for knowing him. Dave, a part of Dennis will always live on with you with the special bond you had as twins! I see it with my twin daughters. You are blessed to have that.
God Bless Dennis and his family
Mike Barrilo

My sincere condolences to the entire Rood family. Dennis was truly one of the kindest, caring persons I have ever met. In his quiet simplicity, he was a great friend and wonderful father and grandfather. He would often talk to me about how proud he was of his children and grandchildren. Dennis had a unique and wonderful way of sincerely connecting with the people he would meet. Dennis and our friends enjoyed over 40 years of working out together at the Y. Dennis was always generous with his time and he and David helped me tremendously during my campaign years. A priest friend of mine once said to me, " When your life is over, the most important thing that you can say about someone is that he was a good man or a good woman." Dennis was that good man --- that good good husband --- that good father and grandfather --- and he was that good friend. I will always remember Dennis as that GOOD friend. May God bless Dennis and his family! Tony Aloi

i was taken aback and saddened when I saw Dennis' obituary. Dennis and David formed a welcoming committee of sorts when I joined SYAC many years ago. I have many fond memories sharing stories with Dennis regarding our large broods. Rest in Peace sweet man. May God bless your soul and family.

Dennis and I have been friends for a very long time. From my earliest days on the city bus going downtown from Eastwood where Dennis and David would be on the same bus to our weekend runs at Onondaga Lake and our membership at the downtown YMCA. Our trips to Toronto to see the Bluejays play somebody, so many times, with the required stop in Niagara Falls for Buzzys Pizza. Visits to his camp, David’s camp, Dicks camp and a few times to my camp were all great even in the rain. Worked for Dennis
On the YMCA Triathlon so many times. I will miss him like a brother but more like a friend. I will never forget Dennis. Thinking of his family and how they will somehow get thru this.
