Obituary of Renate E. Snyder

Renate E. Snyder, 89 of Syracuse passed away peacefully August 22, 2020 at her home, missing her 90th birthday by 3 weeks. She was born in 1930 in Stuttgart Germany, the youngest of 5 children. She came to the United States in 1954. One of her proudest days was when she became a United States citizen. She was employed for many years by Saroney and McGraw, CPAs, and retired from Fagliarone and Associates. Renate was predeceased by her beloved husband Siegfried of 63 years in 2017. She is survived by her daughter Barbara and her honorary daughter Susan and as well as many nieces, nephews and close friends in both Europe and the United States. Renate brought joy to everyone and quietly shared her wisdom with all who knew her. At Christmas time she enjoyed making about 150 Stollens (German Christmas cakes) and sent them to her many friends who still fondly reminisce about them and still miss them. She was generous of spirit and got great joy out of giving to others, an expression of the faith that was the cornerstone of her life. Her smile was infectious until the day she passed. A special thank you to Hospice of CNY, especially Alison, Sherry and Tina without whom her last months would not have been as happy, peaceful nor comfortable as they made them. Thanks also to Bailey, Jessica and Marketia who gained a special place in her heart with their care. There will be no calling hours. Donations may be made in her name to Hospice of CNY.
