Carl J. Dantonello, 91, of Syracuse, died on Sunday at Francis House. Carl was a veteran of the US Army. He retired in 1988 after 35 years of service from Niagara Mohawk. He was a communicant of Blessed Sacrament Church and an active member of the Knights of Columbus Council 5398. He was pre-deceased by his wife of 53 years, Madeline (Peachy) in 2007 and grandson Billy Connolly in 1985. Carl is survived by a son: Jim (Colleen) of North Syracuse; daughters: Sue and Lynn of Syracuse; 6 grandchildren: Amy, Steve (Katie), Dan (Helen), P.J., Sean (Kahla), Kaitlyn; 10 great grandchildren: Max, Hayley, Adysen, Joey, Noah, Ava, K.J., Nolan, Jewels, Alana; and his furry friend Misty. Funeral Mass will be Thursday at 9am in Blessed Sacrament Church with burial to follow in Assumption Cemetery. Calling hours are Wednesday from 4-7pm at the Goddard-Crandall-Shepardson funeral home, 3111 James Street. Memorial contributions may be made to Francis House or Blessed Sacrament School. The Dantonello family would like to thank the staff on Crouse 4 South and the caregivers at Francis House for their care and support.
