Harold A. Thompson, 83, of Syracuse, died on Friday June 26th at home surrounded by his loving family. Harold was known to be a kind and gracious man. He retired from General Motors after 28 years. He worked at Loomis Fargo for 10 years. Harold proudly served in the US Marine Corp. for two years in active duty and twenty three years in the reserves. He was also a member of the Marine Corp League. Harold was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 5398 and a 4th degree knight. As a devote Catholic, Harold was a life member of Blessed Sacrament Church where he served as a Eucharist Minister and thoroughly enjoyed his time volunteering. He is predeceased by two sons, Harold Jr. and Daniel Mark. He is survived by his wife, Rita of 60 years; children; Timothy of Duxbury, MA; Patrick (Ruth) of Lockport, NY; Michael of Syracuse; Mary (Dave) Hopkins of Syracuse; Patricia of Cicero; Elizabeth (Renè) Moya of Cicero; grandchildren: Austin of Boston, MA; McKenzie of Duxbury, MA; Patrick (Alicia) of Clarence, NY; Joshua (Lais) of Lockport, NY; Marisa of Syracuse; Isabella and Graciela both of Cicero; one great grandchild Grayson of Clarence, NY. The family will hold a private service due to COVID-19. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of CNY or the Blessed Sacrament Church Outreach Program.
