What a lovely woman and I have missed her. We were neighbors for 34 years and she was one of the kindest ladies I had ever met. She always loved my flowers and would always go out of her way to tell me how she liked to look at my hanging garden through her kitchen windows. She and Bill were lovely neighbors to have - they watched our children grow up and then watched our grandchildren visit the house. They will be missed.

In 1972 I married Marguerite's daughter Susan, and became the son-in-law of Bill and Marguerite Bartley. The marriage eventually ended in a divorce, but Bill and Marguerite sought to continue the relationship with me as part of their family. Both are sadly missed. Bill, a hard working career railroad man, was one of the most knowledgeable and intellectual men I have ever met. His memory was absolutely perfect, and his understanding of the history of the Civil War was truly incredible. I am proud to have inherited his books on the Civil War. Marguerite was always an elegant woman, a true lady in the classic sense of the term. Always well dressed and well spoken, her quiet life with Bill belied her complete understanding of things sophisticated and upscale. It was difficult to say goodbye to her in her final hours of physical decline; but her suffering has mercifully ended. God speed, and thank you for being who you were...and still are.

We are so sorry to read of the passing of Mrs. Bartley.
For many years we lived across
the street from them on Reed
Ave. "Death leaves a heartache
no one can heal, love leaves
a memory no one can steal."
From a headstone in Ireland.
God Bless
