Obituary of Donald W. Broton, Sr.

Donald W. Broton Sr., 90 of Liverpool died peacefully on Monday, January 27, 2020 at the Veteran’s Hospital in Syracuse. He was born on July 23, 1929 in Syracuse to Eva and Julius Broton. He is pre-deceased by his brothers Bruce, Francis and John. He graduated from Eastwood HS and Syracuse University. He is a veteran of the Korean War, a member of the U.S.S Coolbaugh Association, (Destroyer) Escort Sailors Association, American Legion Post 1276, a life member of the National Rifle Association and the Eastwood Golf League for over 50 years. He was employed for many years with Texmark Machine Company and by D.J.Giancola Exports He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Helen Shanahan Broton. They raised 4 children in Eastwood and were devout members of Blessed Sacrament Church. Mr. Broton is survived by 4 children: Donald Broton Jr. (Tonianne) of San Diego, CA, Shawn Broton (Wendy) of East Syracuse, Tim Broton of Syracuse, and Amy Broton of Liverpool; 6 grandchildren, Alina, Kelly, Kenzie, Kendall, Emma, and Adelyn and several nieces and nephews. Calling hours will be on Friday, January 31st from 4-7 at the Goddard-Crandall-Shepardson Funeral Home. The funeral mass will be held on Saturday at 9:30 in Blessed Sacrament Church. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Dewitt. The family would like to thank the nursing staff at the Veterans Hospital for their outstanding care and compassion.
