Richard Jay Pontius, 93, of Syracuse died at home on Thursday. Richard worked for Goldcrest Electronics as a manager & salesman. He was a veteran of the US Army during the Korean War. Richard and was a member of Poolsbrook Golf Course and had 4 hole-in-ones.
He is survived by his wife Jeannette Brunell Pontius; sons: Richard (Kathy), Bob, John (Betsy), Jim, Chuck, Peter (Missy); daughters: Karen (Vince) Filapello, Michelle (Tom) Brewster and Ruth (Pat) Thompson; 16 grandchildren, 1 great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.
The Funeral Mass will be Monday at 10:30am in St Vincent dePaul Church. Burial will be in Onondaga County Veterans Cemetery. Calling hours are Sunday from 2-5pm at the Goddard-Crandall-Shepardson funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
