Obituary of Katherine Barreca

Katherine "Kate" Barreca, 92, formerly of East Syracuse and Eastwood, died on Saturday, October 5, 2019 at St. Camillus Rehabilitation Center.  She retired in 1991 from the New York State Department of Health.  She was a communicant of Blessed Sacrament Church and a member of the Altar Rosary, Legion of Mary, and Golden Agers. She was also a member of the C.S.E.A. Retirees. 
She was predeceased by her husband of 52 years, Thomas Barreca; her parents Nicholas and Angelina Adornato Galluzzo; a brother Dominick Galluzzo; sister Antoinette Menona, and brother-in-law, Louis Lanzetta.
She is survived by 2 sons: Anthony (Janet) Isadore-Barreca of Sebastapol, CA, Thomas (Eileen) of West Port, CT; daughter Kathleen (Michael) Pawlowski of Manlius, NY; 2 brothers: Vincent (Frances), Joseph (Maureen), Galluzzo all of Syracuse; a sister: and Nancy Lanzetta of Brooklyn, NY; 7 grandchildren, Michael (Jennifer) of Northvale NJ, Matthew (Elizabeth) of Darien, CT, Neil of Buffalo, NY, Jeffrey of Syracuse, NY, Margaret of Los Angeles, Molly of New York, NY, and Thomas “Mac” of West Port, CT, and 7 great-grandchildren.
Services are Wednesday at 10am in the Goddard-Crandall-Shepardson Funeral Home followed by a Mass at 10:30 in Blessed Sacrament Church.  Burial will be in Resurrection Chapel of St. Mary’s Cemetery, Dewitt.  Calling hours are Tuesday from 4-7PM at the funeral home, 3111 James Street.  Contributions may be made to Blessed Sacrament Church,3127 James Street.
