Obituary of Dorothy W. Anderson

Dorothy W. Anderson, 90, a life resident of Syracuse, died on January 8, 2013 at her home. She was a graduate of Central High School and attended Syracuse City Normal School and CCBI. She had retired after 13 years of work at City Hall and had formerly worked for the NY Telephone Company in the accounting department, was a teaching assistant at Bear Road School, Onondaga County Social Services Department, ARISE Inc., and for many years at Paine Branch Library. Mrs. Anderson was a member of James Street United Methodist Church, where she taught Sunday School and served on many committees. She enjoyed traveling, reading and doing crossword puzzles. She was an animal lover and always had a pet in her house. She is survived by her sons: Eric (Marsha) of Indianapolis, Douglas and Gary of Syracuse, grandchildren Matthew and Julie; and several nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held on Friday, January 25 at 7pm in the James Street Methodist Church. The family will greet friends after the service in the church. Contributions in lieu of flowers may be made to the James Street United Methodist Church, 3027 James Street, Syracuse 13206 and Hospice of CNY, 990 Seventh North Street, Liverpool, 13088.
