John J. Scanlon, 74, of Sarasota, Florida, died on Sunday at his home in Fayetteville.   He retired in 2000 as a Labor Relations District Manager for UPS after 36 years of service.
He was pre-deceased by his brother Michael. 
He is survived by his wife of over 50 years, Kathleen Marie (Griffin) Scanlon; sons: John Patrick (Melissa) Scanlon, Christopher Michael (Heather) Scanlon, Mark Thomas (Lisa) Scanlon, Patrick James Scanlon; grandchildren: Jack, Will, Jude, Luke, Sophie, Kendal, Emma and Hannah; a brother Richard Scanlon; sister Patricia Lou Delaney; and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral mass will be held on Saturday at 10am in St. Vincent dePaul Church with burial to follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery.  Calling hours are Friday from 4-7pm at the Goddard-Crandall-Shepardson Funeral Home.
