Obituary of Rev. Allen H. Lum

Rev. Allen H Lum, 95 yrs, died on Dec. 18, 2017 at Veteran's Hospital, Syracuse, NY.  He was born in Union, NJ and raised in Cincinnatus, NY by his parents Ruth and David Lum.  He is predeceased by his parents, siblings and son-in-law, Chris Deming.  

He is survived by his wife, Lois, whom he married 65 yrs ago on 12/28.  He is also survived by his daughter, Shirley, son, Arthur and many nieces, nephews,  great nieces, nephews and friends..

Allen was a WW II veteran, serving as a radio operator in 39th Infantry under General Patton.  After being discharged from the army, he became a county agent in Oswego, NY.  Then, he became an Agricultural Missionary in Pittman Center, Tennessee, where he preached in 4 Mountain churches.  He returned to NY and preached in several more churches, including Brownville, Dexter, St. Regis Falls, Bernard's Bay, New Haven, and Lycoming.

Allen enjoyed life so much and had many hobbies including bee keeping, growing his own food, cutting wood which included harvesting logs. 

After retirement from the ministry, he and Lois put on a program called "Humor and Harmony" entertaining senior citizens - "Ain't that right Pa!! Yup!" 

The memorial Services will be held at University UMC, Syracuse on 12/28/17 at 2:00 pm.  Parking and entrance is on University Ave.  Flowers may be sent to the church.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to University UMC or Upper New York Camps Retreats Ministries.
