Obituary of Thomas Bardenett

Thomas J. Bardenett, 82, of Syracuse,died on Sunday at the Veterans Hospital, surrounded by his family. His 30- plus year career at Monarch Liquors allowed him to become a wine expert, a connoisseur and an educator. Mr. Bardenett served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. He was a competitive athlete, having played basketball at CBA and Le Moyne College, an avid golfer and a former golf professional. He was a longtime coach with Eastwood Little League and Blessed Sacrament basketball. Dad was a lifelong NY Yankees and NY Giants fan. Dad loved his family and enjoyed playing sports with his children and grandchildren and attending their musical and athletic events. The family would like to thank all the doctors, nurses, and staff at the VA Hospital, along with all the blood donors who helped contribute to his final years. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Helen Ann (Chryst) Bardenett; his sons, Dennis (Terri), Mark (Nora) and Tom (Robbie); his daughters, Lynn (Phil) Adams and Joan McDowell; a brother, William (Ann); a sister, Mary Kelsh; 12 grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11:30 a.m. in Blessed Sacrament Church, with burial to follow in St. Mary's Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Tuesday from 4 to 7 p.m. in Drumlins Country Club. Donations may be made to the American Red Cross or a blood donation may be made in Tom's memory at the Red Cross.
