Obituary of John "Jack" Proctor Fifield IV

John (Jack) Proctor Fifield IV., 78, of Syracuse, passed on and did not quit nor suffer. His passing occurred on his grandson's birthday, Jackson, who turned 2, Jackson is proudly named after his grandfather. Jack lived his whole life in Syracuse. He was a very hardworking, loving and supportive husband and father, raising three children and at the same time owned and operated Kases and Kegs and Fifield's Big M. Jack will be remembered for his eyes, his smile, his unselfishness, his jokes and his wit. Jack's joys and pleasures were enjoying his friends and family, visiting Cancun, Mexico in February and staying up at camp in Caroga Lake, the Adirondacks, during the summer. He was a graduate of Onondaga Valley Academy and attended Syracuse University. He was a member of the American Legion, served in the United States Army in Germany, and formerly worked at Mario's Big M. Jack grew up with his brothers and sisters in the Valley and stayed in the Valley after he wed Suzanne (Suzie) M. Bailey in 1965, the love of his life. Suzie passed on in 2007, and Jack will be laid by her side. He was predeceased by brothers Robert Fifield, in 2004 and Stephen Kent Fifield, in 2002, sister-in-law Kathleen E. (Bailey) Holden, in 2004 and brother-in-law Philip C. Bailey, in 2006. He is survived by his children; sons, John Proctor V. (Cara) of Syracuse and Kenny (Cindy) of North Syracuse; daughter, Lisa of Syracuse; sisters, Cindy Fifield of La Coste, Texas, and Shirley Fifield (Smith) of Syracuse; brother-in-laws, William (Mary Ann) Bailey of Pittsford, Martin J. (Jeanne) Bailey of Onondaga Hill, Thomas K. (Hon. Michele Pirro) Bailey of Lafayette, and John Holden of Onondaga Hill; sister-in-laws, Susan Fifield of Atlanta, GA, Marge Fifield of Syracuse, Anne (Bailey) Gallo of Fort Mill, SC, and Margaret (Hartnett) Bailey of Lafayette; grandchildren, Jessica, Sandy, John and Jackson; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be Saturday at 10:00 a.m. in St. Paul's United Methodist Church (Valley Drive). Burial will be in the Onondaga Valley Cemetery. Calling hours are Friday from 4 to 7 at the Goddard-Crandall-Shepardson funeral home, 3111 James Street.
