Some memories of my time spent with Robert:
-Having coffee with Robert while his family attended church services when one of the workers laughed at our private conversation saying I CAN HEAR YOU TWO.
-Taking Robert to a movie on a drizzly day with my convertible top needing to come down for a short time to fit his wheelchair in the backseat.
-His infectious laugh.
-Directing the Francis House volunteers like he owned the place.
-Attending his daughter's birthday party that he organized that she will never forget.
-Watching a video of his daughter's Christmas Pageant at her church.
-Meeting his parents that drove to Syracuse from North Dakota to visit with him.
-He became my friend and I am going to really miss him.

Our family met 'Robert' at Francis House when my mom "Joan" was a resident there. One day during a visit, Joan's little white dog Lily scampered out of her room straight to Robert sitting in the kitchen with his wife, Maria. Lily immediately tried to climb up on his lap to frantically lick Robert's face. Lily was so enamored with Robert, I thought her tiny tail would wag right off!
Robert was a great sport, laughing out loud as she covered his face in kisses. From then on, every time Lily visited Mom and spotted Robert she'd eagerly pull on her leash to greet him. Robert would laugh, or when weary, he'd break out a big smile. Lily got to meet all Roberts children too.
When you lose someone you love, your heart is broken.
Only over time and talking about your feelings with supportive people can ease the heartache. After a while, it's important to not to dwell on the sadness of their passing, but instead remember the joy they gave you and others while they lived.
My sympathies to Maria, James, Elizabeth, and Catherine.
Robert and all his family are good people. Why bad things happen to good people is very hard to understand. I have no answers but this I know for a fact: true love never dies. To Robert's children & Maria: know that you are lovable no matter what! No matter if Daddy's here on earth or in Heaven. His spirit will forever breathe words of inspiration powerful enough to be etched into both the heaviest and hardest of hearts.
Hugs, and Lily kisses to you, on behalf of Joan's family.
Her daughter, Marilyn

To Robert's family,
He was Robbie to me, with the absolute cutest dimples. I babysat him and his brothers and sisters and still have the fondest memories of them. I only knew him as a child, but I don't doubt that he grew into a good man. I extend my sympathies to his parents, his siblings and his wife and kids. My prayers are for your peace.

WOW! i am so sorry i did not catch up with my buddy from Apple Valley before. Robert was a good friend of mine during my early teen age and pre teen years running around Apple creek and Mcdowell dam in the summer. My family moved when i was 16 and i lost contact. I am so sorry to hear, and i pray all his family, mom and dad, brothers, sisters, wife, and children are blessed and comforted by our Lord in this time of loss. Me and Robert where partners in crime for a while, constructing pipe bombs, shooting guns, hunting and stuff. Hi to Danny if you read this.
I pray in Jesus name that the Holy spirit comfort and heal and protect this family and bring them close to you our father in heaven because we are all just passing through and only have a short time hear in this life! Amen
I actually tried to look up Robert on FB one time about a year ago, wish i had tried harder.

Words cannot express the priveledge it was to be one of so many friends of Robert at Francis House. I was so thankful to get to be with him, as well as your beautiful family on Christmas Day.
Robert was my guide in the kitchen when I first started a year ago. He would tell me where everything was, and keep me in line.
Then of course there was his laugh! Has there ever been a better laugh? I am there at least once a week, and he was always smiling, always ready for interaction with EVERY person that came along!
He was our own personal Mayor!
I will never forget his energy. I know he will be watching from above now. I will remember him, remember his place at the head of the table.
Robert was loved. Robert was truly loved.

To the Family of Robert, my sincere condolences for your loss. The pain and the sense of loss that death brings can be overwhelming without the help our Creator can provide. As you cope with your loss, may you also find comfort in knowing that soon God promises to put an end to all the things that have plagued mankind for centuries including death (Revelation 21:3,4). May the words from God's word the Bible give you comfort now and strong hope for the future. Deepest sympathy

My fondest memories of Robert will be preparing his breakfast at Francis House and having him beat me at Black Jack! I will forever remember his smile and his sense of humor. His upbeat attitude was a gift to all the volunteers and he will be missed because he was loved so much by so many. We grieve his loss but are grateful for the privilege of knowing him. May he rest in God's loving arms and may his beautiful family find comfort knowing he touched so many lives. My deepest sympathy to Robert's family.
