Joan Marie Downey, 77, of Syracuse, died on Sunday at her home after a brief battle with lung cancer. She had formerly worked at Niland Cleaners. She enjoyed spending time with her family, watching movies and was an avid bowler.
Mrs. Downey is survived by her daughter: Judith Ann (Carl) Scheuer; her sons: Mark (MaryJo), Scott, Brian (Michelle) Downey; a daughter-in law Lori Downey; 5 grandchildren: Noelle, Ashley, Miranda, Jason, Kimberly Downey; and her beloved cats: Baby, Snowball, and Pumpkin.
Calling hours are Friday from 4-7pm at the Frasier-Shepardson Funeral Hone, with a service at 7pm. Burial will be in Assumption Cemetery.
Contributions may be made to the Humane Society or the Cat Coalition.
