Obituary of Clarice P. Shepard

Devoted caregiver, dedicated daughter and wife, and loving aunt, Clarice P. Shepard, 96, passed into God’s hands October 30, 2016. Clarice was born April 19th, 1920, in Syracuse NY to Anson and Ethel Peterman Piper. She was a registered dietician for 17 years at Syracuse University Hospital of the Good Shepherd and was also employed by Crouse Irving Hospital. She was a graduate of Syracuse University, interned at Mass General Hospital and worked at Children’s Hospital in Boston. While at Syracuse University, she was a member of the Omicron Nu, Pi Delta Nu, and Phi Kappa Phi. She was also a member of the Phi Mu sorority and active in the alumni association, serving as a local chapter advisor and serving on the National Council of the sorority. Clarice was a member of the American Dietetic and the CNY & State Dietetic Associations where she held several offices. She was a member of the Eastwood Baptist Church, Order of Eastern Star, Daughters of the Nile. Although, she didn’t live in Boston long, the city won her heart and she became a lifelong Red Sox fan. She loved sports and good food, and especially enjoyed hosting SU game pizza parties. She is pre-deceased by her parents; sister Bernice Piper Marks; and her wonderful husband of 47 years, William A. Shepard. She is survived by her brother Anson S. Piper of Hudson Falls, NY; and many nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews. A private service will be held at White Chapel Cemetery. Donations may be made to the Clarice Piper Shepard Scholarship, c/o Phi Mu Foundation, 400 West Park Drive, Peach City, GA 30269-1482.
