Obituary of Edward C. Hoffman

Edward C. Hoffman, of Syracuse, died Monday, January 25, 2016. He was born on September 7, 1925 in Syracuse. His parents were Edward and Martha Hoffman. He retired from GE in 1987 after more than 40 years as a supervisor of drafting. Mr. Hoffman was a graduate of Vocational High School and served in the US Army Air Corps. He was a volunteer with the Onondaga County Department of Health Blood Pressure and Flu Clinics. He was a member, former church council president and member of the property committee at St. Stephen Lutheran Church. Mr. Hoffman enjoyed wood working and was proud of the Kaleidoscopes and furniture that he has made. Edward was predeceased by his son in law Alan Schachter and his brother Warren. His family includes his wife of 64 years Anne Elsie “Nancy” Hoffman; son Rev. Dr. Daniel (Debra) of Williamsville, NY; daughter Martha Hoffman of Foxboro, MA; a sister in law Corinne of Liverpool; 5 grand daughters: Leah (David) Hoffman Murray, Hannah (Joseph) Nicholson, Beth (Russell) Martin , Sarah, Laura Schachter; two great granddaughters Hadley and Callie Murray; and a nephew Dr. Mark Hoffman. Funeral services are to be held in St. Stephen Lutheran Church on Friday at 10:00am. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery. Calling hours will be held at the Frasier-Shepardson Funeral Home on Thursday from 1-3:00 and 5-7:00pm. Contributions may be made to St. Stephen Lutheran Church Garden or the American Red Cross of Central New York Blood Program.
