Edward W. Kimbrell Jr., 80, of Liverpool, passed away on September 30, 2011 at Crouse Hospital surrounded by his beloved family. He had received a mechanical engineering degree from RPI in 1953 and retired after 38 years of service from GE. When Ed was 12 years old, he operated a bicycle repair shop that was adjacent to his father's business. He had also formerly worked for his father's boat shop repairing Johnson motors during his high school and college years. Mr. Kimbrell was the former treasurer and active volunteer at the Eastwood Baptist Church. His summers were spent at his cottage at Dodge Bay, Cape Vincent. He enjoyed boating, water skiing, clambakes, going to lunch at different restaurants with his friends and spending time with his family. One of Mr. Kimbrell's passions was genealogy research on his family's background. He spent years researching his family's history and sharing this information with Kimbrell descendants throughout the nation. He was pre-deceased by his mother Marion J. Kimbrell who died in 2003, his brother Lee, in 1987, and his father Edward Sr., in 1972. He is survived by his wife of 53 years: Madeline (Procino) Kimbrell; his children: Colonel Karen (William) Nauschuetz of San Antonio, TX, Edward (Charla) Kimbrell of Phoenix, AZ, Ralph (Mary) Kimbrell of Croghan, and Sean (Donna) Kimbrell of Fulton; a brother, David of Pulaski; 9 grandchildren; 1 great-grandchild and several nieces and nephews. Friends may greet the family on Wednesday from 4-7pm at the Eastwood Baptist Church. Funeral services will follow at 7pm on Wednesday at the church.
