Obituary of Marie A. DeMichele

Marie A. DeMichele of Syracuse passed away on Friday, October 9, 2015 at Francis House after a brief illness. Marie was born on August 4, 1935 in Rochester, NY, the daughter of Joseph and Jane Mancuso. Marie attended Nazareth College in Rochester and moved to Syracuse after her marriage to Newferd O. "Mike" DeMichele in 1957. Mike and Marie were married for 35 years before his passing in 1992. A homemaker for much of her married life, Marie went to work at Lamson Corporation in 1981, and retired from there in 1998. Marie is survived by her daughters: Lisa DeMichele-Coley of San Antonio, TX, Carla (Charles Jr.) Hund of Stuart, FL and Akron, NY, Paula DeMichele of Syracuse; two step grandchildren; three step great grandchildren, as well as several aunts, uncles, cousins and a niece. Marie will also be dearly missed by family friend Scott Dennis, who she often referred to as "my son from another mother." A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, October 16, 2015 at 9am at Blessed Sacrament Church, 3127 James Street, Syracuse, New York, 13206. A private burial at the convenience of the family will be at Veterans Cemetery. Donations in Marie's name can be made to Francis House, 108 Michaels Avenue, Syracuse, New York, 13208 or SPCA of CNY, 5878 Molloy Road, Syracuse, New York, 13211. The family sends a heartfelt thank you to the staff of Francis House for the kindness and care they showed our mother during her stay. They are truly angels on earth.
