Obituary of Harold R. Brunet

On Sunday, October 4th at 10:05 pm, the world lost a beautiful soul. Harold Raymond Brunet “HB”, born on October 26, 1946, was surrounded by those that loved him and he “knew they did”. Harold lived a robust life and was a well-mannered gentleman. He received his education at Assumption Academy and also attended special education at Clary School. Harold resided in the L’Arche community for 38 years both teaching and being educated on the values of mutual relationship and love. HB received each person in his life with the legendary hug and his sense of hospitality and compassion was unmatched. Harold’s favorite way to live life was through being with his family, swimming, bowling, singing songs and dancing, watching old movies, playing games, hugging the ladies, and traveling the land with friends. Harold was a communicant of Blessed Sacrament Church. Harold was predeceased by his mother Virginia and his brother Kenneth. He is survived by his father Raymond; his brothers: Kevin of Syracuse, Michael (Cheryl) of Otisco, Martin (Laura) of Fayetteville; his sisters: Kathleen (Jasiu) Szewczyk of Howlett Hill, Janice (Robert) Burke of Tully; his aunt: Sr. Mary Harold Braungart of North Syracuse; several nieces and nephews, and his extended L’Arche family. The number of people that Harold touched in his life was insurmountable and he will be dearly missed. Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 8:30 am at the Goddard-Crandall-Shepardson Funeral Home and at 9 am in Blessed Sacrament Church. Burial will follow in Assumption Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday from 4-7 pm at the funeral home, 3111 James St. Memorial contributions may be made to L’Arche Syracuse.
