A new star in the sky is shining for the one who will forever be in our hearts. On August 20, 2015, Edward John Burns II, 64, of Largo, Florida, passed away surrounded by family. Ed was a former lineman for Niagara Mohawk and Warehouse Manager for Taft Furniture. He touched many lives and was most proud of his role as a substance abuse counselor in Schenectady, NY. A graduate and athlete of Assumption Academy. He proudly served the US Marine Corps. He was an avid Nascar, NY Yankee and SU fan. Pre-deceased by his parents Edward "Gus" and Anna Mae (Kleist) Burns; brothers, Nicholas and Daniel Burns. Survived by his daughters: Kelly (Michael) Austin, Jamesville, Kristy Burns; Ocala, FL, sisters: Ann (Jim) Foster, Mary (Collier Smith) Burns, Sue (Joe) Sheley, Kathyern McBride; Ann Burns, Cindy Burns; 6 grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. The family wishes to thank Suncoast Hospice and his physicians. A memorial mass will be held in Assumption Church on September 12th at 10am, which would have been Ed's 65th birthday. Burial will follow in Assumption Cemetery. Friends may greet the family from 9-10am in the church. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph's Rehabilitation Center, Saranac Lake.
