Obituary of Frank H. Shimer

Frank H. Shimer, 86, of Syracuse, died on Wednesday at The Nottingham RHCF. He had retired after 40+ years with Random House Publishing and was a member of the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. Mr. Shimer had enjoyed traveling, reading, his trips to Maine and Florida and his favorite restaurant, The Eggplant. He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict.
He was pre-deceased by his wife Barbara who died in 2005 and his son Stephen who died in 2012.
He is survived by his 2 daughters: Susan K. (James Mitchell) Shimer of Chicago, Elizabeth A. Shimer of Syracuse; and 2 grandchildren: Sarah E. and Benjamin S. Nemier.
Funeral services will be held Friday at 12noon at the Goddard-Crandall-Shepardson Funeral Home with burial to follow in the Onondaga County Veterans Cemetery.
Friends may greet the family from 11-12 before the service at the funeral home, 3111 James Street.
