Thomas R. Stevens, 61, passed away on July 20, 2015 at home surrounded by loving family members following a long and courageous battle with cancer. Tom is survived by his wife, Terri "Sullivan" Stevens; his son, Thomas, Jr. and daughter, Carie Lynn Yablonski, both of Syracuse. Additionally, Tom leaves behind his brother George and sister in law Carol of Poughkeepsie; three grandchildren, two great grandchildren; and numerous brothers and sisters in law, nieces, nephews and great nieces & nephews
He was predeceased by his parents George "Bud" and Kathleen "Kay" Stevens.
A native of the Valley, Tom was involved in youth sports as coach, umpire, referee as well as being president of the Valley Basketball Association.
He was long employed in the transportation industry in the Syracuse area and eventually came to own and operate his own transit firm.
Calling hours are Friday from 4 to 7 PM at the Goddard-Crandall-Shepardson Funeral Home, 3111 James St. A prayer service will be conducted at 6:45 at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Hospice of CNY.
