Linda Ann McNally, 66, passed away at St. Joseph's Hospital on June 19, 2015 with her loved ones by her side. Linda was born in Syracuse, and spent her whole life making a difference in the community where she was born, raised and educated. After graduating from Syracuse University in 1981, her professional career began at Huntington Family Center where she worked for 24 years. Following in the footsteps of her grandmother, Laura Kohles, who served as executive director, Linda played an integral role in advancing the invaluable services that Huntington provided to many west side neighborhood residents. In 2005 Linda continued her service to those in need when she began working for the Salvation Army as the Director of Senior Services. In this role Linda pursued her passion for working with the elderly as she helped ensure that older members of the community remained healthy and independent as long as possible. Linda's volunteer service has included being a board member of the Southwest Community Center, being a member of the United Way Speaker's Bureau, and as a member of the Eastwood Neighborhood Association. On March 26, 2015, Linda was named the 2015 Syracuse Woman of the Year. The annual award, honors an "unsung heroine who has made a difference in her community, [and] has acted as a role model for other women…". Linda was recognized for being determined to ensure that the next generation of human services leaders are women ready to lead our human services programs throughout our community. Linda is survived by her loving husband, Richard Bailey; her mother, Janet Hess of Syracuse; daughter, Laura McNally-Levine of Cleveland, OH; step-daughter Elizabeth Jobarteh of Syracuse, NY; brothers Robert Raleigh of Darien, CT and Peter Hess of Wolfeboro, NH; sister-in-law Saundra LeBlanc of Fort Pierce, FL; cousin Deborah Maxwell of Portland, OR; four nieces and two nephews. Calling hours will be Monday from 4-7pm at the Goddard-Crandall-Shepardson Funeral Home, 3111 James Street. An graveside service will be held at 10:30AM on Tuesday at Woodlawn Cemetery. Donations in lieu of flowers may be sent to the Salvation Army, Senior Center at 677 South Salina St., Syracuse, NY 13202.
