Mildred Joyce Ciborowski nee Manbeck, age 85, died peacefully at home on May 23, 2015 surrounded by her loving family. She was a dedicated reading teacher for 27 years at Lyncourt School. A beloved wife and mother of three, grandmother of six and great grandmother of two, she cooked in the Pennsylvania Dutch style in which she was raised. She loved surfing the web, a good crime story and doing crosswords in pen. Mildred was an officer of the Lyncourt Senior Citizens Organization and a member of the Lyncourt School Board. An avid golfer and bowler, she was also a devoted fan of Syracuse Orangemen basketball. She enjoyed playing the piano with her grandchildren, birdwatching and gardening, particularly with daffodils. Mildred attended Kutztown State Teachers College and went on to Syracuse University where she received her Masters degree in education. Her mission in life was to insure that all children, no matter their circumstances, learned to read. She is survived by her husband of 63 years, Peter Ciborowski Sr., her daughters, Cheryl [Gibson] Stine and Patricia [Alex] Melnikow, and her son Peter Jr. [Jean]. She is also survived by her grandchildren Cassandra, Jonathan, Victoria, Jason, Robert and Elizabeth, her two great grand children, and many nieces, nephews and cousins. She will be missed by her two brothers, Robert [Sara] and Harvey [Glenda] Manbeck, and her two sisters, Janet Manbeck and Barbara Bieber. She was predeceased by her father and mother, Elias and Pearl Manbeck and her step-mother, Alberta Manbeck. A funeral mass will be held on Thursday at 9am in St. Daniel's Church, with burial to follow in the Onondaga County Veterans Cemetery. There will be no calling hours. Memorial contributions may be made to the Multiple Sclerosis Society.
