Obituary of Charles A. Sallin

Charles A. "Archie" Sallin, 82, of East Syracuse, died on Wednesday at James Square. He was a graduate of Eastwood High School. Archie worked for many years at Loblaws and Green Hills Farm before opening and operating "The Family Butcher Shop" in Eastwood. He retired in 1991. Archie proudly served in the US Army during the Korean War. He was a communicant of St. Matthew's Church and was a member of the Eastwood American Legion Post 1276. He was pre-deceased by his parents: Frederick W. & Rosalie Kuchinski Sallin and his 7 brothers: Joseph, Frederick, George, John, William, Donald and James. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Margaret Ryan Sallin; 4 sons: Charles F. of Syracuse, Joseph V. (Karen) of Lakeport, Thomas E. of East Syracuse, Peter F. of Binghamton; a granddaughter: Jenna M. Sallin; and several nieces and nephews. The funeral mass will be held on Saturday at 11am in St. Matthew's Church with interment to follow in St. Mary's Mausoleum. Calling hours are Friday from 4-7pm at the Goddard-Crandall-Shepardson Funeral Home, 3111 James Street, Syracuse.
