Christopher Johnson, 86, of East Syracuse, passed away Friday, February 13, 2015 at the Veterans Medical Center after a long battle with Parkinson's Disease. He was born on August 3, 1928 in Rochester, NY and was pre-deceased by his parents Michael and Demetra (Siminoff) Johnson. From 1948-1954 he held the title of "Mr. Rochester" as a body builder and enjoyed the honor of being a US Navy Veteran. Chris was retired from Conrail after over 50 years of service. He enjoyed hunting with his sons and many friends for years in addition to fishing, gardening and was a tropical fish enthusiast.
Chris is survived by his beloved wife of 53 years, Bernice; his three sons: Michael and Mark Starrantino, David Johnson all of Syracuse; two sisters: Victoria Bell of Albany and Dorothy Johnson of Rochester; a granddaughter and several nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be Friday, March 27 from 4-7pm at the Goddard-Crandall-Shepardson Funeral Home, 3111 James Street.
A private funeral to be held Saturday, March 28 at Woodlawn Mausoleum.
