Obituary of Anthony Frank Borowicz

Anthony (Tony) F. Borowicz, 91, passed away peacefully, Friday, February 13, 2015 at the V.A. Medical Center. Anthony was a lifelong resident of Syracuse, New York. He loved hunting and fishing. After retiring from Henderson and Johnson Company he spent most summers in 1000 Islands with his family fishing on the St. Lawrence River and watching the ships passing thru the seaway. Anthony was a proud World War II veteran who fought in the Burma campaign. He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans Association and the American Legion. He was also a Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus. Anthony was a much loved husband and father who always had a friendly smile and a kind word. He will be sorely missed. Anthony is predeceased by his brother John Borowicz and his sister Sophie Zaharack. He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Lorraine (Wisowaty); two sons: Dr. Michael Borowicz of Mississippi, Thomas (Joy) Borowicz of Syracuse; and his beloved daughter Suzanne Borowicz of New York City; 3 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; as well as several nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial and Celebration of Anthony's life will be held on Thursday at 9:00 am at the Goddard-Crandall-Shepardson Funeral Home and 9:30am at Transfiguration Roman Catholic Church. Burial will be in Saint Mary's Cemetery, Dewitt, New York. Calling hours will be Wednesday from 4 to 7:00pm at the Funeral Home 3111 James St. in Eastwood. Memorial contributions may be made to Saint Jude's Children's Hospital.
