Phyllis K. Hayden Mulligan Purvis, 90, of East Syracuse, died on Monday, November 24, 2014 at Crouse Hospital. Her parents were Harold and Esther Vinette Hayden. She had attended Onondaga Valley Academy and Miss McCarthy's School in Rochester. She retired from the New York State Department of Education. Mrs. Purvis was a communicant of Holy Trinity Church, an associate of the Third Order of St. Francis and a member of the Catholic Daughters. She was predeceased by her husband John Mulligan, a son David Mulligan, and daughter Kathlyn Liquori.
She is survived by her sons: Patrick Mulligan of Las Vegas, NV, Christopher (Yoko) Mulligan of Kyoto, Japan, John Mulligan of Syracuse; daughters: Rosemary Goodwin of Syracuse, Patricia (Tim) Mahar of Syracuse; 12 grandchildren; and 9 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be Wednesday at 10am at the Goddard-Crandall-Shepardson funeral home and at 10:30 in Blessed Sacrament Church. Calling hours will be Tuesday from 4-6pm at the funeral home, 3111 James Street.
