Obituary of Frank A. Ventre

Frank A. Ventre, 93, lifelong resident of the Syracuse north side passed away peacefully at the VA Hospital in Syracuse on Friday, October 24, 2014. A graduate of North High School, Frank served with the US Marine Corps during World War II and participated in 3 conflicts, including the Invasion of Normandy and Iwo Jima. He was a life long communicant of St. Daniels parish and most recently Blessed Sacrament Church. Trained as a skilled watch repair man, Frank worked at Rudolph Jewelers before he began his 28 year career with the US Postal Service. He and his wife Anne raised their five children in Lyncourt where Frank was a well respected member of the community. In addition to being dedicated to family and friends, he enjoyed the outdoors including gardening, fishing and golfing. Frank was pre-deceased by his wife Anne, who died in February and a sister, Louise Dunlap. He is survived by his daughters, Donna (John) Pellenz; Susan (Paul) Modafferi; Lisa Ventre; Perri (Rick) Hurd; son, Frank Jr. (Michelle Stopher); grandchildren, Richard Elderbroom; Jeff Pellenz; David Pellenz, Sabrina Ventre, Rachel Alibrandi, Andrew and Jonathan Hurd; great-grandchild, Wesley Elderbroom; sisters: Lola Kinney, Nancy (Pat) Campagna; and several nieces and nephews. Friends and family may call between 3-6pm on Monday, October 27th at the Goddard-Crandall-Shepardson Funeral Home, 3111 James Street, Syracuse. Services will be held at Blessed Sacrament Church on Tuesday, October 28th, 2014 at 10:30 am. Burial will immediately follow at Woodlawn Cemetery, Syracuse. The Ventre Family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to the staff at the VA Hospital and the residents and staff at the Hearth on James for their care and compassion.
