Stella A. Listowski, 98, of Syracuse, died peacefully on Wednesday. She retired from Syracuse University after 20 years of service. She was a communicant of Blessed Sacrament Church, enjoyed gardening and spending time with her neighbors, friends and family. She was pre-deceased by her husband Alexander "Ollie", her parents Frank & Mary Kulak, her daughter Nancy Canestrare, a sister Ann Nizolek, and brothers: Frank and Thomas Kulak.
She is survived by her sons: Thomas and David Listowski, both of Syracuse; daughter: Kathleen M. Hawley of Syracuse, son-in-law John Canestrare of Kirkville; brother Leo (Mary) Kulak of Constantia; sisters: Helen Markowski of Syracuse, Jane (Michael) Garbinsky of Kirkville; 4 grandchildren: John F. and David A. Canestrare, Alex and Erica (Bill O'Hern) Listowski; great grandchildren Ethan Listowski, Abby & Isla O'Hern; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services are to be held Saturday at 8:30 at the Goddard-Crandall-Shepardson Funeral Home and at 9AM in Blessed Sacrament Church. Interment will be in St. Mary's Mausoleum, Dewitt. Calling hours are Friday from 5-7PM at the funeral home, 3111 James Street. Contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association of CNY or to a charity of choice.
