Mary M. Lavelle May 11, 2014 Mary M. Lavelle, 97, of Syracuse, died on Sunday at Crouse Hospital. She had retired after 35 years with the Carrier Corporation. Mrs. LaVelle was a communicant of St. Vincent dePaul Church, a member of the Altar and Rosary Society and the Happy Roamers. She was known for her Macaroni and Cheese that she made for the Friday Fish Dinners during Lent. She enjoyed traveling and tending to her flower garden. She is pre-deceased by her husband Thomas and sister Catherine Ganley. Mrs. Lavelle is survived by her 5 sons: Thomas (Sarah) of Scottsdale, AZ, Robert (Cindy) of Liverpool, William (Cassie) of Syracuse, James (Debbie) of Syracuse, Michael of Syracuse; 11 grandchildren; 24 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. The funeral mass will be held on Thursday at 10am in St. Vincent dePaul Church with interment to follow in St. Mary's Mausoleum. Calling hours are Wednesday from 4-7pm at the Goddard-Crandall-Shepardson funeral home, 3111 James Street. Contributions may be made to St. Vincent dePaul Church or Francis House.
