Irene West Adams, 98, passed away peacefully at Francis House. Irene was a former school crossing guard at Webster School and also worked as a cashier at Paper Poppy. She was predeceased by her husband, Albert F. Adams in 1997. She was a resident of Pitcher Hill Apartments and received the 1999 J.C. Penney Golden Rule Award for her volunteerism for Francis House as a weekly baker.
Irene is survived by her son, Albert (Sharon) Adams and her daughter, Kathleen (James) Jerose and four grandchildren, Amy (Matthew) Nieman, Kristin (Joshua) Lawch, Kevin (Katie) Jerose and Jay (Danielle Durkin) Jerose, as well as four great-grandchildren, Alexander, Samantha, Rebecca and Abigail and many nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank the caring staff, administrators and volunteers at Francis House for their loving care and compassion as well as Dr. Louis Bonavita and his wonderful staff.
No calling hours. Services will be at 9:30 a.m. Thursday, May 8, 2014 at Assumption Church followed by burial in Assumption Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Francis House, 108 Michaels Ave. Syracuse, NY 13208.
