Kenneth F. Brunet February 27, 2014 Kenneth F. Brunet, 61, of Syracuse, Broke on Through to the Other Side on Thursday at University Hospital. He joins family and friends that have departed before him. Ken loved music, and was known to regale those around him with the story behind the music. His surviving family takes comfort knowing he now has front row seats to the most joyous concert in heaven. Ken loved to laugh, to sit around a bonfire with his family & friends, and to quaff a good brew (He was a frequent visitor to Vic's Stafford Market). He loved to paddle a canoe or to just sit lakeside at his camp on Otisco Lake. Ken loved good books and was an avid reader Ken was a frequent volunteer at Francis House before becoming the main caregiver for his aging parents, providing comfort to those in need. He was a kind spirit and a gentle soul. Ken was a Senior Underwriter for Utica First Insurance Company, where he was held in high regard by his coworkers as a mentor and an underwriting expert. He made frequent visits to New York City to meet with his many agents in the five boroughs, who enjoyed treating him to many great meals in Flushing and elsewhere. Ken especially loved partaking in the NYC Korean and Chinese culture and savored Korean barbeque and Kim Chi. He is survived by his parents Raymond and Virginia Brunet; his brothers: Harold and Kevin both of Syracuse, Michael (Cheryl) of Otisco, Martin (Laura) of Fayetteville; sisters: Kathy (Jasiu) Szewczyk of Onondaga, Janice (Bob) Burke of Tully; two aunts: Noela Putman, and Sr. Mary Harold; several nieces and nephews and many cousins. Calling hours are Monday from 3:00 to 6:00 pm, with a memorial service at the conclusion at the Goddard-Crandall-Shepardson Funeral Home, 3111 James Street, Syracuse. The family asks that memorial contributions be made to L'Arche of Syracuse and Francis House. The Last Waltz is over but The Band plays on….
