Gail D. Saunders (Wilcox), 71, of Syracuse, passed away on Saturday, February 8, 2014 at home with her family present after a noble battle with cancer. Gail, born in Yeovil, England, received her State Registered Nurse certificate from Selly Oak hospital. She met her husband Andy and moved to the United States in 1972. Devoted to her family and friends, Gail was a long time member of St. Alban's Episcopal Church where she served as a Eucharistic Minister and Lay Reader, Sunday school teacher and pastoral care giver. A true Brit, she remained a British citizen. Gail is predeceased by her parents Dorothy and Norman Wilcox. She is survived by her loving husband of 41 years D. Andrew Saunders, children Christopher (Amy) Saunders and Claire (Eli) Stein, grandchildren Alex and Cole Saunders and Ruth Stein. The family thanks: Dr. Anthony Scalzo, Pam Yeager NP, Terry Principato NP, and associates at Hematology Oncology of CNY; Dr. John Kane III of Roswell Park; Dr. William Schu of CNY Surgical Physicians; the oncology staff at Crouse Hospital and Mr. Wayne Lee, RN. Services: A memorial service will be held 11 a.m., Saturday, February 22 at St. Alban's Episcopal Church, 1308 Meadowbrook Drive, Syracuse. Reception will follow.
