Rosella (Bevc) Rychak passed away on Wednesday, November 27, 2013. She was born on October 25, 1923 in Johnstown, PA, the daughter of Frank and Frances Bevc. She married Joseph Rychak on May 31, 1952. Rose (Zollie) graduated from Franklin High School and Cambria-Rowe Business School. Rose worked for the Bureau of the Mines in Johnstown and the Brooklyn Navy Yard in New York City. After years of staying home and raising her daughters, Kathleen and Patricia, she returned to work at Cooperative Extension, retiring in 1987. Rose always remarked that she was so thankful for the opportunities that she had in her life. She never envisioned that a girl growing up in a small town would have so many wonderful experiences during her life. Rose was extremely proud of her three grandchildren She and her husband were able to travel extensively throughout the United States, Canada and Europe. She belonged to SNPJ and was proud of her Slovenian heritage. Rose enjoyed watching SU football and basketball games. Rosella was a member of Blessed Sacrament Church for many years. Rose was predeceased by her husband Joseph in 1998, her brother Frank in 1991, and her parents. She is survived by her daughters, Kathleen (Patrick) Siracusa, of East Syracuse, Patricia (John) Fitzsimmons, of Trumbull, CT, and three grandchildren, Lauren, Kathryn, and Brian Fitzsimmons. She is also survived by several brothers-in-laws and sister-in-laws, Sophie Rychak, Harry and Elsie Rychak, Helen and James Llewellyn, Peter and Delores Rychak, and Paul Rychak. Many nieces and nephews also mourn her passing. Rose always remarked how fortunate and thankful she was to her neighbors who looked out for her after her husband died. The family will receive friends from 10:30 - 11:30 on Thursday, December 5 at Goddard-Crandall-Shepardson Funeral Home, followed by a Mass of Christian burial at Blessed Sacrament Church at Noon. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery in Dewitt. In lieu of flowers contributions can be made to Blessed Sacrament Parish Outreach.
