Hormidos Joseph Baron Jr., 99, of Eastwood passed away at the VA Medical Center. He was born on October 8, 1914 in Syracuse, the son of the late Hormidos J. and Albina Bourdon Baron Sr. He was a communicant of Blessed Sacrament Church. He served in the US Army during WWII. Joe had worked for 39 years for General Baking Company and later worked for Bond Clothing. He was predeceased by his wife Alice in 2003; brothers: Oscar, Floyd, Harry, Robert and sister Beatrice Anklin Shore. Survived by: daughter Nancy (Peter) Cann of Canastota; grandchildren: Jessica (Mark) Cann Brickey of Richmond, Va and Jeffrey (Danielle) Cann of Minoa; great-grandchildren: Andrew, Nathaniel and Leah; very special friends, Bob and Ann Harrington; the staff at Eastwood's Friendly's; and several nieces and nephews. Many, many lives he has touched, He will be missed! Special thank you to the wonderful staff on the 8th floor at the VA Hospital. Funeral Mass will be Saturday, November 30th at 9am in Blessed Sacrament Church. Burial will be in Assumption Cemetery. Friends may call Friday from 3-6pm at the Goddard-Crandall-Shepardson funeral home, 3111 James Street.
