Byrle MacKenzie 91, of Syracuse, died on Tuesday at James Square. She was a former switch board operator at St. Joseph's Hospital and retired as the blood center coordinator for the American Red Cross. She was a communicant of Blessed Sacrament Church and a member of the Altar Rosary Society, Legion of Mary, and St. Joseph's Hospital Auxiliary. Byrle cherished the special bond she had with her great-granddaughter, Ashley Popenfuss. She was pre-deceased by her husband Fredrick C. MacKenzie and daughters Nancy MacKenzie and Joyce Kline. She is survived by her children: Janet A. (Dale) Popenfuss of Syracuse, Arlene F. (Mike) Mitchell of Syracuse, Fredrick A. (Karen) MacKenzie of Cicero, N. Jean (Craig) Jesmer of Dickensen Center, NY; 7 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Funeral Mass will be Saturday at 10am in Blessed Sacrament Church. Burial will be in Assumption Cemetery. Friends may call Friday frm 5-7pm at the funeral home 3111 James Street. Friends wishing may contribute to the Blessed Sacrament Church Outreach Program or the American Red Cross.
