Mertis E. (Gene) Jones Jr. died July 21, 2013 in a one car accident in Corpus Christi, Texas. Gene was born in Syracuse, NY on February 5, 1956. He attended Andrews Memorial Methodist Church and Liverpool High School. He joined the Navy as an aircraft mechanic. His great love was music and the guitar. After the Navy, he spent some time in a band in California but returned to selling cars in Corpus Christi, Texas.
He was predeceased by his mother, Joanne Jones. He is survived by his father and stepmother, Mertis and Maude Jones; sister, Valorie Stalcup; stepsister, Valerie June; brother, Richard Jones; nephews Rick Jones, RJ Stalcup, and Jordon Jones; and niece, Lindsay Stalcup.
Graveside services will be at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, August 10, 2013. He will be buried beside his mother in Woodlawn Cemetery in Syracuse, NY.
