Obituary of Silvio B. Napoli

Silvio B. "Skee" Napoli, 96, passed away on Saturday at the Cunningham at Loretto. He was born in Syracuse, New York, on November 21, 1916. He grew up together with the cluster of first-generation American children of Italian immigrants who lent their culture to the Syracuse neighborhood known as The North Side. Later, he moved to the Eastwood area where he resided for more than 50 years. In the early 70s, he retired as Chief Manufacturing Engineer for Carrier Corporation. In that role, he traveled globally to ensure that Carrier products manufactured in overseas plants were assembled in compliance with company specifications. In retirement, he enjoyed his favorite pastimes, which included spending time with family and friends, hunting, fishing, and wood and metalworking. He was predeceased by his wife of 64 years, Rose (Garden) Napoli; he was also predeceased by and his son, Richard S. Napoli. Surviving are a daughter, Sylvia Ann Kelly; two grandsons, Thomas P. and Marc D. Kelly; and three great-grandchildren, Faith Ann, Jestie A., and Conner P. Kelly, all of North Carolina. Also surviving are a sister, Helen A. Napoli; a sister-in-law, Maria "Tina" Garden, both of Syracuse; and several nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held on Wednesday at 1:30pm in the chapel at St. Mary's Cemetery Mausoleum, DeWitt. Friends may greet the family from 1-1:30 at the mausoleum.
