Michael Maier Fitzgerald (Chip), passed away July 5th after a short illness. He was the son of the late Michael Kevin Fitzgerald and Susan Maier Fitzgerald of East Syracuse.

Chip was known for his exceptional creativity, his love of food and drink, and his ability to host amazing events with ease. He was kind-hearted, hilarious and generous with his time and talents.

Chip received an associate’s degree in interior design from Onondaga Community College and a bachelor’s degree from Paul Smith’s College in hotel/restaurant management. He worked at many well-known restaurants in the Syracuse area, and more recently as a manager for Gertrude Hawk Chocolates.

He is survived by his mother, Susan Maier Fitzgerald of East Syracuse; a brother Kevin (Beth) Fitzgerald of Bald Head Island, NC, two sisters: Amy (Joe) Fiorito of East Syracuse and Meg (Ken) Matteson of Williamson, NY; his nieces and nephews Erin, Seth, Sean, Daniela, Neil, Maggie, Jake, Peter and Mary Kate; and his beloved puppy Buttons.

A celebration of life will be held Friday, August 9th at 11 am at Traditions at the Links at Erie Village.
