Robert Pontius Obituary

Robert “Bob” Pontius, 66, formerly of Texas, died on July 20, 2024. Born in Syracuse, he lived in Texas for over 40 years. He gained a reputation as the premier licensed pool/spa technician in his area as a sub-contractor for A. Affordable Pools. He loved hunting, fishing and rooting for the Dallas Cowboys and Texas Rangers. Bob was a devoted son, brother and uncle who cherished his twice a year extended visits to see family in NY.

He was pre-deceased by his parents: Richard and Jan Pontius and a brother Chuck.

He is survived by his brothers: Richard (Kathy), John (Betsy), Jim, Peter (Missy); sisters: Karen (Vince) Filapello, Michelle (Tom) Brewster, Ruth (Pat) Thompson; and 16 nieces and nephews.

A funeral mass will be held on Friday August 2 at 9am in St Vincent dePaul Church. Burial will follow in Collamer Cemetery. Calling hours are Thursday August 1 from 4-7pm at the Goddard-Crandall-Shepardson Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the SPCA.
