Obituary of Jean A. Brooker

Jean Agnes (Verrette) Brooker, was born May 15, 1934 in Syracuse, NY,  and passed away peacefully July 24, 2024 after a short illness at Crouse Hospital.  Jean had been a patient at the Fahey Rehabilitation Center at Loretto after breaking her hip this past May.
Jean graduated from St. John the Evangelist school.  While a student she worked at Kresgee store then later at the Syracuse Credit Union.  Jean married her high-school sweetheart William and they celebrated their 72nd Wedding Anniversary this past July 5.  After raising six sons, Jean worked for 17 years as the Office Manager at Holy Trinity Church.  Jean also enjoyed going to the casinos with her sisters and spent over 30 summers at their trailer in Sylvan Beach.
Jean is survived by her husband William; sons: Mark (Sara) of Lowville, NY, Michael of Hudson, NY,  John (Lisa) of Star Lake, NY, Matthew (Kim) of Meade, CO, Paul of Mallory, NY, Andrew (Erin) of Raleigh, NC; her three sisters: Barbara (Terry) Reiter, Rita (Gary) Arns and Patty (Terry) Doyle and sister-in-law Pat Verrette all of Syracuse; 13 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.  She is predeceased by her parents Alfred and Loretta Verrette and brother Robert Verrette. 
Jean was a member of St. Daniel Church and Holy Trinity Church.
Jean’s family wishes to thank the staff and residents at the Fahey Rehabilitation Center at Loretto for their care and kindness while she was there.  The therapy staff, especially Steve and Susan, who had her well on her way to walking again.  Also, thanks to the Medical Team at Crouse Hospital for their excellent care in the Emergency Room and the rest of the staff for their kindness and compassion to the family.
Calling hours will be held on Monday, July 29 from 4-7pm at the Goddard-Crandall-Shepardson Funeral Home.  The funeral mass will be held on Tuesday at 10:30 in Blessed Sacrament Church with burial to follow in St. Mary of the Assumption Cemetery Minoa, NY.
Donations can be made to the Syracuse Food Pantry, The Alzheimer's Association or the Nappi Wellness Institute.
