Obituary of Frank L. Thomas Sr.

Frank L. Thomas Sr. finished his testimony for his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Saturday, July 13, 2024. Frank Thomas entered heaven in quietness and peace, at home, surrounded by his family. 
Frank was born in the coal mining community of Wilkes-Barre, PA to Ivor and Gertrude Thomas. His family moved to Elmira, NY where he graduated from Elmira Free Academy in 1965.
Frank began his active-duty service in the US army in 1965 until 1968. He later joined the reserves; were he achieved the rank of sergeant and was honorably discharged in 1980.
Frank went on to get an Associate of Science degree from Corning Community College, a Bachelor of Science degree from SUNY Cortland, and later a Doctorate of Expository Preaching from Thornhill University.
Frank came to faith in Jesus Christ in 1976 and was called by God to serve the Lord as a pastor in 1980. In 1982, Frank began his ministry where he served on the Onondaga reservation for two years, then the fellowship at Midler Ave Wesleyan Church for 13 years. In 1997 he became the founding pastor of Berean Calvary Chapel, whose members he considered family, where he pastored until his death. 
Frank is preceded, in death, by his grandson, Cayden Barclay Hutchings. He is survived by his beloved wife of almost fifty-four years, Vi, his daughter Stacie (Ken) Hutchings, his son, Frank L. Thomas II, his beloved daughter-in-law, Nicole, ten grandchildren, two grandchildren in-law, and great grandson.
Calling hours will be held on Saturday, July 20 from 10am-12pm in the Berean Calvary Church, 1 Calvary Road, Kirkville, NY 13082.  A funeral service will held at the conclusion of the calling hours with burial to follow in the Berean Calvary Cemetery.
