Obituary of Diane L. Ulatowski

Diane Ulatowski, 70, of East Syracuse, passed away peacefully surrounded by her children on July 8th.  Diane was the fifth of six children born to Chester and Genevieve Filipski, coming in just behind her triplet sister, Dorothy, and just ahead of her triplet brother, David. Diane was a lifelong resident of the Syracuse area where she raised her two children.  She worked at Christopher Community in Accounts Payable for 37 years. She affectionately was known as “Grandma DiDi” to her three granddaughters and too many nicknames to count by her son.  Her three granddaughters were the center of her world and she enjoyed frequent trips to Target with Peyton and Parker and visits to Buffalo to see Sophie.  She never missed a daily conversation, Saturday lunch or nail appointment with her daughter, or a weekly call with her son.  She was known for her kindness, generosity and compassion.  Diane loved reading, taking walks and a good meal.  She also was an avid Syracuse Basketball fan, spent countless hours chatting on the phone with friends and family and enjoyed going on trips, including summer vacations to Lake George and the infamous “Ladies Weekend”.    
She was predeceased by her parents, Genevieve and Chester Filipski, and her siblings, Thomas Filipski and Joanne Wilkie.  She is survived by her children, Jason (Alison) Ulatowski, Jillian (Michael) Richardson, her granddaughters, Peyton and Parker Richardson and Sophie Ulatowski, her siblings, Mary Ellen (Damian) Ulatowski, Dorothy (Michael) Kindt and David (Margaret) Filipski, along with many cousins, nieces and nephews.  
Calling hours will be held Friday, July 12 from 4-7pm at the Goddard-Crandall-Shepardson Funeral Home, 3111 James Street, Syracuse.  A funeral mass will be held on Saturday at 10:30am in Blessed Sacrament Church.
