Elizabeth J. Francey, beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, peacefully passed away at the age of 98 on June 30, 2024.
Elizabeth was born on December 11, 1925 to Francis Clifford Sehl and Mary Margaret Ginley Sehl in Syracuse, NY. She was loving wife to the late Arthur J. Francey Jr. Together they built a life centered around family and amazing food.
Elizabeth and Arthur’s talent for cooking evolved into a family run catering business. Their children and extended family working behind the scenes clad in matching red shirts, created a memorable dining experience for the guests, and fond memories for the family. Their catering career earned a reputation for transforming ordinary gatherings into extraordinary feasts.
After her husband Arthur’s death, Elizabeth worked at Syracuse Model Neighborhoods and Syracuse Family Planning department retiring at age 75.
In her later years, Elizabeth enjoyed gardening, and spending time with her grandchildren.
In addition to her husband Arthur, she is pre-deceased by her son Donald A. Francey and daughter Susan (Jeffrey) Jakubowski.
She is survived by her loving children, Mary Beth (Randy) Hamblin, Anne (Wayne) Nowakowski, and son-in-law Jeffrey Jakubowski, a brother Francis (Bud) Sehl, 9 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and 12 great-great-grandchildren.
Her life will be celebrated Saturday, July 6th, at Blessed Sacrament Church. Calling hours begin at 9:30 am followed by Funeral Mass at 10:30 am. Burial will be private in Woodlawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of CNY.
