Obituary of Michael H. Drazek
Michael H. “Mickey” Drazek, 72, of Liverpool, passed away June 22, 2024 at Iroquois Nursing Home with family by his side. Born April 22, 1952 in Syracuse, Mike was a graduate of Bishop Grimes and University at Buffalo. He served three years as a Peace Corps volunteer in Morocco teaching English and loved sharing stories about his time there.
Mike entered the workforce at Carrier International in Syracuse and later earned his Master’s degree at UNLV and worked at Timet in Nevada. Shortly after the birth of his first child, Mike and his beloved wife Linda relocated back to Upstate New York and he went on to work at General Electric, Lockheed-Martin, Martin-Marietta, and Mackenzie-Child’s before ultimately retiring at Carrier Corporation.
He was a loving husband, father, son, brother, and friend. Away from work Mike was an accomplished baseball coach who helped lead multiple Seneca River South Little League teams to league and District-8 Championships.
An audio gear enthusiast and history buff, he became a subject expert on anything anyone around him cared about. In addition to stereo equipment, he was a valued resource to anyone in his life looking to purchase a bike, vehicle, or sports equipment among many other things.
Mike loved cooking family meals and recommending dining options after vast amounts of research. In later years he loved spending weekends with family enjoying good food while taking in whatever sporting event was on; Mike was especially fond of UFC and the Little League World Series.
Mike will be lovingly remembered by his devoted wife, Linda (Capels) Drazek, two children: Jeff (Sarah) of Albany and Dan (Chloe Baron), siblings: George (Jane) of Arizona, Joy Nielsen (Kris) of Texas, and Jill (David Poole) of Maryland, three grand-kitties and two grand-dogs, and several nieces and nephews. Mike is pre-deceased by his parents Anthony Drazek and Jane (Banazek) Drazek, and brother Joseph Drazek.
Friends and family are welcome to call at Goddard-Crandall-Shepardson Funeral Home, 3111 James Street, Syracuse, NY 13206 on Wednesday, July 3rd, from 3PM until 6PM.
