Francis "Mike" Carr, 89, of Murrieta, CA, passed away peacefully at his home on April 11, 2013 from complications of Alzheimer's disease. He was born in East Syracuse and graduated from east Syracuse High School. Mike enlisted in the Navy at the start of WWII and remained in the service until 1962. He moved to San Diego with his wife Norma and son Glenn in 1962. He worked at the Scripps Institute of Oceanography for the next 20 years. Mike volunteered hundreds of hours for the Fleet Reserve Association and at one time served as National Chaplin. He was active in his parish of St. Martha's in Murrieta and was a Fourth Degree in the Knights of Columbus. He is survived by his son Glenn and daughter-in-law Susan; 2 grandchildren: Travis and Michelle; and a great-grandson Gage. He is also survived by his sister-in-law Anne Carr and several nieces, nephews and cousins in Syracuse. A memorial mass will be held on Tuesday, June 11, at 9am in the Chapel at Blessed Sacrament Church in Syracuse.
